With winter falling across the country the nobility of Sweden grow restless. I have sent letters requesting help from those who I know to be loyal to our cause. The Danes have constantly sought to undermine our authority and claim our land for our own, already they seek to centralize power in Copenhagen: we cannot, we must not stand idly by. We are left with no choice but to anoint one of our own to be King. Alas the Germans will see this as weakness and doubtless try and encroach our lands and liberty. We must be the standard bearer in the north. They can come but we will stop them whether the be the heretics to the East or the Emperor to the South we will stand as one, a free Sweden. A lion in the North.

History
In the closing months of 1445 the Swedish nobles tried to gain independence from their Danish oppressors with the help of their Pomeranian and Scottish friend. Alas we were defeated. The Scottish king did not join out of generosity he only wished for Orkney to be part of his realm. Alas without his help the Swedish and Pomeranian's were hopelessly outnumbered. With their capital besieged the Duke of Pomerania was forced to pay indemnities to the Danish throne. Any hope of victory was lost when the Captain in charge of our army in the south was overcome by madness and attacked the entirety of the Danish army. Only a few hundred men escaped that battlefield to return home. With the war lost our country did not go unpunished with Västergötland seized its nobles imprisoned and the Danish Kings nephew installed as Duke. Yet Christian did not stop there in 1455 he had several of our number summoned to Copenhagen and executed. After this men flocked to join us from all across Sweden and with the backing of the Grand Duke of Muscovy we waited until the moment was right.
With England's declaration of war to gain the Norwegian islands it was time to strike. The Danish armies were overwhelmed faced with a war on two fronts they were no match for our fearsome Swedish troops and the vast armies of the Grand Duke. With this victory we gained our freedom and gained back what we lost as well as Skane, too long had it been a thorn in our side.
The attention of the nation then fell across the gulf of Finland to the lands of the the Livonian Order. These knights have for many decades now feigned a crusade against fellow Christians. They will crusade no more. Our armies swept over them as a great wave seizing the majority of their land and the trading city of Riga as well. They were left with a castle a and small parcel of land upon which to sustain it. We now stand as one of the premier powers in the north but war looks to threaten our kingdom once again in the coming years as Denmark seeks to return us to their realm.
